Listen Up! Customer Service in Surround Sound | The 123Print Blog

123Print Customer Service InfographicBack in the day, customers had few avenues to voice their opinions to companies. That?s all changed. Today, businesses hear customer feedback in high-definition surround sound ? via the phone, live chat, email, Facebook, Twitter, blog comments, good old-fashioned letters, and yes, YouTube videos. Who can forget the ?United Breaks Guitars? video, which is now up to over 12.6 million views!

Not only is it nice to listen to and respond to your customers, it?s good business. In the December ?Hear Ye, Hear Ye? infographic, it points out that nine out of 10 people are more likely to purchase from a company after having a good customer service experience. It also states that 18% of people refuse to do business with a company that provides poor service. You can see where this is going.

Having access to your customers? input from social networks as well as more traditional venues gives businesses all kinds of advantages. Customer feedback can help you:
- Improve your existing product or service
- Develop new products or services
- Answer other customers? questions
- Provide new web or blog content
- Create new sales collateral
- Enhance manuals or training materials

And the list goes on and on. Your customers have great insight into what is and isn?t working for your company, so listen to them!

Here at 123Print, we just launched our Email Preference Center, a place where customers on our email list can go to specify what kind of emails they want to receive and how often they want to receive them. I mean seriously, why would we want to send people emails they don?t want to receive? That?s just not efficient. So we?re asking, they?re telling, and we?re listening. It?s not rocket science, just simple respect. (BTW, if you?re not on our email list and would like to sign up for discounts and product news, we?d love to have your email. And we promise to let you tell us when you want to hear from us.)

Why not start telling us what you?re thinking right now? We?d love to hear your comments on the December infographic, this blog post, our products or anything else that you think might help us do a better job of meeting your business communication and life event needs. If you?d prefer, you can also leave your comments on our 123Print Facebook page or tweet us @123Print. We like to listen in surround sound. ?

Cough keeps former President George H.W. Bush in hospital

(Reuters) - Former President George H.W. Bush is in stable condition in the Texas hospital where he has been undergoing treatment for complications related to bronchitis and no release date has been set, officials said on Monday.

"He has a nagging cough and his doctors are in no hurry to send him home," said George Kovacik, a spokesman for The Methodist Hospital, Houston.

Family spokesman Jim McGrath told Reuters that Bush, 88, had a "really good day" on Sunday watching the Houston Texans National Football League team clinch a playoff birth by beating the Tennessee Titans, 24-10.

Bush was admitted to the hospital on November 23 for complications related to bronchitis.

The Houston Chronicle reported in February that Bush had been diagnosed with lower body parkinsonism, which causes a loss of balance, and that he often uses a wheelchair.

Bush, a Republican and the 41st president, took office in 1989 and served one term in the White House. The father of former President George W. Bush, he also served as a congressman, U.N. ambassador, envoy to China, CIA director and was vice president for two terms under Ronald Reagan.

As president, Bush routed Iraq after former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait in 1990. His public approval ratings soared but just 20 months later he was defeated in his re-election bid by Democrat Bill Clinton.

Until recent years, Bush was known for an active lifestyle. He went skydiving to celebrate his 75th, 80th and 85th birthdays.

He met with former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in early November in Houston. In March, Bush formally endorsed Republican Mitt Romney for president.

Turkey's request for missiles expected to get NATO approval

BRUSSELS (AP) ? NATO foreign ministers are expected Tuesday to approve Turkey's request for Patriot anti-missile systems to bolster its defense against strikes from neighboring Syria, NATO's top official said.

Ankara, which has been highly supportive of the Syrian opposition to President Bashar Assad's regime, wants the Patriots to defend against possible retaliatory attacks by Syrian missiles carrying chemical warheads. Syria is reported to have an array of artillery rockets, as well as short- and medium-range missiles in its arsenal ? some capable of carrying chemical warheads.

Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen warned as he arrived for a two-day meeting of foreign ministers that "if anybody uses chemical weapons I would expect an immediate reaction from the international community." His comments echoed a Monday warning from President Barack Obama that there would be consequences if Assad made the "tragic mistake" of deploying chemical weapons.

"Syrian stockpiles of chemical weapons are a matter of great concern," Fogh Rasmussen said.

Though Fogh Rasmussen offered no specifics, U.S. officials say the White House and its allies are weighing military options after U.S. intelligence reports showed the Syrian regime may be readying them and desperate enough to use them.

Germany and the Netherlands are expected to provide to Turkey several batteries of the latest PAC-3 version of the U.S.-built Patriots air defense systems, which is optimized to intercept incoming missiles, with the U.S. possibly sending some from its stocks in Europe.

The exact details of the deployment and the number of batteries to be sent will be determined by NATO's military committee based on a report by a joint team that has been studying possible basing sites. Parliaments in both Germany and the Netherlands must then approve the move, which would also involve several hundred soldiers.

NATO doesn't want to be drawn into the Syrian conflict and Rasmussen cautioned that any missile deployment would be defensive only.

"It would in no way support a no-fly zone or any offensive operation," he said.

German ambassador Martin Erdmann said the Bundestag will probably take up the matter next week. The actual deployment would then occur "within weeks" once the political decision is made, Fogh Rasmussen said.

Due to the complexity and size of the Patriot batteries ? including their radars, command-and-control centers, communications and support facilities ? they cannot be flown quickly by air to Turkey and will probably have to travel by sea, NATO officials said.

NATO foreign ministers are also meeting Tuesday with their Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. Russia has criticized the planned deployment of the Patriots saying that it would further inflame tensions in the region.

Syria, which is party to the 1925 Geneva Protocol banning chemical weapons in war, has repeatedly insisted it would not use them even if it did possess such weapons.

Turkey, a NATO member since the 1950s, asked allies to deploy the missiles as a defense against any aerial attack from Syria after mortar rounds and shells from Syria struck Turkish territory, killing five people. NATO installed the long-range Patriot batteries on Turkish territory during the 1991 and 2003 Iraq wars. They were never used and were withdrawn a few months later.

The Patriot, which first entered service three decades ago, has been successively upgraded over the years. Although optimized for anti-aircraft defense, advanced versions can also be used against cruise missiles and against medium- and short-range ballistic missiles. They have a maximum range of about 160 kilometers (100 miles) and can reach altitudes of about 80,000 feet.

Syria is reported to have an array of artillery rockets, as well as short- and medium-range missiles ? including Soviet-built SS-21 Scarabs and Scud-B missiles ? in its arsenal. The latter are capable of carrying chemical warheads.

Syria's conflict started 20 months ago as an uprising against President Bashar Assad, whose family has ruled the country for four decades. It quickly morphed into a civil war, with rebels taking up arms to fight back against a bloody crackdown by the government. According to activists, at least 40,000 people have been killed in Syria since March 2011.

Homeschool: Is Your Child Gifted? : Ideas for Women Home and ...

Growing up I could read before I ever started school. It was not that I was taught to read it was simply that I picked it up somehow. I would steal my older brother?s books and keep trying the words until I finally figured them out. By the fifth grade I had read War and Peace twice. In my home this was normal and we never thought anything of it. My father was gifted and so was his siblings. My younger brother also was gifted but in different?areas.

When you homeschool how can you tell if your child is gifted??Many experts believe only 3 to 5 percent of the population is gifted, though some estimates ?can reach 20%. Only 1/10% are what ?is called profoundly gifted which means they are the rare prodigies who devour complex texts before kindergarten or play a violin sonata. ?The trouble is there is no universal standard to define being gifted. There is a national standard used called Javits Act.

41 states have set their own definitions of being gifted and you can contact the school board int eh area you live in to have your child tested. Teaching a gifted child is much more a challenge because he or she may actually prove to be above your?abilities. I spent years?arguing?with teachers only to prove them wrong about whatever it was. I was asked to never return to several classes for that reason and my dad was asked never to attend a conference because he once told a teacher her job was to teach and not give an A on paper with?punctuation?errors. I never got an A again from that teacher!

christmas.stress 300x256 Holiday Fitness Survival Guide

Holiday Fitness Survival Guide

by Charlotte Siems

Can you believe it?s already that time of year?? Don?t you just love the Christmas season with all its decorations, goodies, parties and music?? We have to admit that it also brings extra stress, disruption to the usual schedule and temptations to indulge in sweets.? What?s a girl to do??

Here are a few tips to help make it easier for you:

Have a plan

You don?t have to fill notebooks with schedules and checklists, but it?s helpful to have a basic plan in mind.? Sit down with your planner or calendar and make sure the holiday events are already filled in.? Check to see when you?ll be traveling or when you have some especially busy days planned.? Then pencil in your plan.? Aim for at least three short workouts per week. ?If I plan five days a week (Monday through Friday), it?s more likely I?ll get in four.

Take advantage of short workouts

Ah, the beauty of T-Tapp?s short workouts!? They are short but powerful little packages of wellness and fitness all in one.? Basic Workout Plus is the standby favorite, but what about getting creative for variety?? Do the Basic Workout portion of the Total Workout, or Tempo Arms, or Tempo Torso or Ladybug.? Start with Primary Back Stretch, then do another portion of the Total Workout, like Lunges to Thread the Needle.? It?s okay to skip moves, just DON?T rearrange; the sequence is still important.

Don?t deprive yourself of goodies

I don?t know about you, but if I think I can?t have something then I really want it!? The key is moderation.? If you know you?re going to an event where goodies will be served, check your mindset at the door.? Food is not your best friend or a way to meet emotional needs.? Make sure you?re actually physically hungry before you eat and stop when you are full (not stuffed and miserable).

Maintenance is easier than catching up

Just like cleaning house, when you keep up a little every day, it?s easier than playing catch-up.? Piles of laundry and dirty dishes in the sink and on the countertops are depressing.? But a load of laundry here and a load in the dishwasher there keep chaos at bay.? In the same way, three short workouts a week through the holidays beats throwing fitness to the winds and then regretting the pounds and inches in January.? You might not lose a size but it sure beats gaining!

Plug in to support and accountability

Find some ways to keep yourself accountable and on track through the holidays.? The T-Tapp forums are a great way to find a group of T-Tappers who want to support each other.? Start your own thread or join an existing group. ?Be creative and keep it simple.?

The important thing is to not just give up and forget about exercise during the holidays.? Imagine how good you?ll feel when you keep up with your consistency and at least maintain instead of gaining.? You?ll have more energy for all of your busy days.

Have a happier holiday (and post-holiday) with T-Tapp!?

Murder May Spread Like Infectious Disease

Murder is contagious and may spread like the flu, new research suggests.

The researchers relied on the same techniques public-health officials use to track the spread of diseases, but applied them to the spread of homicide in Newark, N.J., over a 26-year span from 1982 to 2008.

And just as in other epidemics, certain neighborhoods were more susceptible than others. Diverse, immigrant-rich communities looked to be protected against homicide's spread in the research, while the poorest neighborhoods were more vulnerable. These findings suggest communities could inoculate themselves against murder waves by addressing the underlying risk factors, said study co-author April Zeoli, a criminal justice researcher at Michigan State University.

"People speak about violence, crime and homicide as being contagious. The idea is that violence begets violence," Zeoli told LiveScience. [The History of Human Aggression]

As for what makes violence beget violence, Zeoli speculated that being in an area with a murder epidemic makes people fearful and more likely to resort to violence as a defensive measure.

"They may get their own firearms and be willing to use lethal force just so they can stay safe."

What causes crime is one of the most studied, yet most elusive questions. Past studies have tied murder rates to dozens of factors, from gun ownership and incarceration rates to a belief in hell?. But until recently, scientists didn't apply the principles of infectious disease to understand exactly how crime spreads.

In their study, Zeoli and her colleagues found Newark experienced epidemic levels of violence during the 26 years: Homicide rates ranged from between 3.5 and five times higher than the national average on average.

Zeoli's team found that murders mimicked patterns of infectious disease. At the beginning of their study, homicides spiked in central Newark, but over the study period, central Newark killings waned while the murder epidemic moved into the southern and western wards of the city. Like other infectious diseases, murder rates spiked in certain areas and spread to nearby regions.

Interestingly, the city's homicide epidemic didn't spread to the northern and eastern sections of the city ? regions that are more diverse than the city as a whole, Zeoli told LiveScience.

"It's potentially that diversity that helps keep homicide out of those areas," she said.

The northeastern part of the city's high fraction of Latino immigrants may also reduce violence there, perhaps because they tend to be more cohesive, she said.

In theory, that may mean people feel less need to resort to crime, Zeoli said.

Poor areas were found to be most susceptible to a murder wave.

Because murder moves like an infectious disease through a community, similar tools could potentially help stop its spread, Zeoli said.

For instance, if poverty increases susceptibility to murder because residents have no job or educational prospects, then providing those opportunities could help ward off a murder wave, she said. Over the long run, that could make murder less infectious in poor communities, she added.

"For homicide, if you start trying to revitalize a community, are you going to stop a homicide that would have been committed tomorrow? Probably not," she said. "But you are maybe going to prevent homicides that would have been committed a year from now."

The study is detailed in a forthcoming issue of the journal Justice Quarterly.

Reputation Submission Wrestling

Submission wrestling includes a long and rich history. Ale submission wrestling dates back to over 4000 years! Such a wrestling was common in ancient China, Greece, Rome and India. Paintings and sculptures that go back to more than 2000 to 1085 BC portray wrestlers and combaters using this kind of wrestling in ancient Egypt.

It is no surprise that grappling goes so long. Forever of your time, man has been conflict with one another due to the limited resources available. As fighting increased around the world, individuals and societies started forming fighting and combat methods for attack and martial arts.

As time progressed, wrestling became accepted like a sport improving the popularity of effective grappling techniques. Ground Positions in Grappling

Ground positions are very important since they squeeze opponent ready that will make it easier for a grappler to use the submission maneuver.
