Bear in mind these are still works in progress, but here's what I got so far. Its unfinished still, but you'd be surprised how much work this was. I was up from about 12 till 5 AM gathering information for this map, and its still not done lol And how I see it, better to have an unfinished map than no map at all. Also bear in mind its based off of someone elses map for Elicoor II which in turn is based off of the real areas in Star Ocean III on Elicoor II, I just added climate things so we'd know what the weather was like in different places, as well as still trying to find better ways to describe places.

Elicoor II (Note: the left side is all Airyglyph except for Arias itself, and Arias+all of the right side is Aquaria, except for the spot hinting at Greeton.)

Xerostomia also called Dry Mouth, Pasties, Cottonmouth, Drooth ...

Sep28

Silvia Gland

Xerostomia also called Dry Mouth is the state of not having a sufficient amount of saliva, or spit, to keep the mouth wet.? Dry mouth can take place rarely; you get a Dry Mouth when nervous or stressed can be an example.? When Dry Mouth perseveres; it can create chewing, eating, swallowing, halitosis (bad breath), an increase in the number of dental cavities (saliva helps prevent tooth decay), ?infections in the mouth, such as thrush and even talking difficult.. An individual with xerostomia typically finds it harder to enjoy food?Dry Mouth also amplifies the hazard for Tooth Decay for the reason that saliva assists to keep damaging germs that cause cavities and other oral infections in check. Casually, it is also acknowledged as pasties, cottonmouth, drooth, doughmouth or des.

Causes of Dry Mouth or Xerostomia

  1. Drug Related Xerostomia. Many prescription and OTC (over-the-counter) medications cause dry mouth. there are more than 440 drugs, which can cause Xerostomia, and some types of those drugs are analgesics, antihistamines, anti-hypertensives, antiemetics, anticonvulsants, anti-parkinson drugs, appetite suppressants, antispasmodics, diuretics, expectorants, decongestants, and muscle relaxants. These drugs are able to decrease, increase, or alter the function of salivary glands and composition of salivary fluid, possibly because they mimic the action of autonomic nervous system or by direct action on the cellular processes required for salivation.
  2. Salivary Gland Dysfunctions. Many diseases can lead to salivary gland dysfunction and then causes Xerostomia.
  3. Radiation Therapy. When Radiation Therapy is carried out to the neck and head region, as in cases of oral, throat, or dental cancers, patients experience intense Dry Mouth or Xerostomia because this treatment damages the salivary glands resulting in lack of saliva leading to severe dry mouth conditions and increased risk of infections.
  4. Chemotherapy. A high dose of chemotherapy in cancer patients leads to salivary gland failure and thereby causes Xerostomia.
  5. Autoimmune Disorders. In Autoimmune Disorders like Sjogren?s Syndrome, our immune system has a affinity to attack salivary glands causing damage again leading to dry mouth syndrome.

Symptoms of Dry Mouth or Xerostomia

The symptoms of dry mouth may include:

  • Thick or stringy Saliva
  • Dry or rough tongue
  • The tongue glues against the top of the mouth
  • Difficulty in chewing or swallowing (particularly dry foods such as biscuits)
  • Bad Breath
  • Mouth ulcers
  • Dry and cracked lips
  • Susceptibility to oral thrush infections
  • High rate of tooth decay
  • A tickle burning feeling in the mouth.

Treatment of Dry Mouth or Xerostomia

Depending on the source of Dry Mouth, health care provider can propose suitable treatment.

  • If the Dry Mouth is contemplated to be caused by a medication, the doctor will either alter the dosage or prescribe another drug which is less likely to cause dry mouth.
  • A medication such as pilocarpine (Salagen) or cevimeline (Evoxac) may be prescribed to stimulate the production of saliva.

Treatment for dry mouth usually includes four areas:

  • Increasing the flow of saliva
  • Replacing lost secretions
  • Controlling dental caries
  • Some specific measures, such as treating infections

Self Care for Dry Mouth or Xerostomia

There are also self-care steps you can take to be of assistance to ease Dry Mouth, such as

  • Drinking plenty of water
  • Chewing sugarless gum
  • Avoid Smoking and Tobacco
  • Avoid Alcohol.
  • Reduce Caffeine consumption
  • Breathing ? breathing through the nose does not dry the mouth, while breathing through the mouth does.
  • A humidifier can add moisture to a bedroom. This may help reduce dry mouth symptoms that develop during sleep.
  • Avoid Sugary foods or drinks
  • Avoid Acidic foods or drinks
  • Avoid Dry foods
  • Avoid Spicy foods
  • Avoid Astringents
  • Avoid Excessively hot or cold drinks

Sony Tablet S gets chunky update: better multi-tasking and IR, 'guest mode', new media apps (correction)

Sony Tablet S gets chunky update better multitasking and IR, 'guest mode', new media apps correction

The original Tablet S has already absorbed a few interesting updates and now it's getting one more: devices are waking up to an Android 4.0.3 update that brings significant additions like a Guest Mode for creating restricted user accounts, revamped media and social aggregation apps, and six assignable macro buttons on the IR Remote Control app. Sony has also bolstered its Small Apps function, allowing you to overlay a browser, IR remote and other utilities in a window on top of another app. What this update isn't is Jelly Bean, which is headed to the Tablet S's similarly-named replacement, the Xperia Tablet S.

Correction: We originally confused the Tablet S with the newer Xperia-branded model. Thanks to all who spotted the error.

Early voters casting ballots in swing state of Iowa

Voting began today in Iowa, the first battleground state where voters can cast their ballot in the presidential election.

Iowa is one of 32 states (plus the District of Columbia) that allows no-excuse early voting, meaning that any registered voter can head to the polls before election day and cast their ballot. Idaho and South Dakota were the first states to start early voting last week, but Iowa is the first of the key swing states that could determine the outcome of the election where voting has begun.

Ohio is the next swing state to begin early voting. Polls there open on Tuesday, Oct. 2.

Early voting has become an increasing popular form of voting in recent years. In 2008, 36 percent of the total vote in Iowa came in via early or absentee voting. This year, the Iowa secretary of state's office expects that number to grow.

Voters across the state gathered as early as 6:45 a.m. to walk over to the their voting locations together. For the most part, early voters in the state will not cast their ballot at a polling site, but will go to their county courthouses.

While the number of voters who turned out this morning to be the first to cast their ballots in the Hawkeye state is not yet available, over 185,000 absentee ballots have been requested, and just over 3,500 have been returned, according to the Iowa Secretary of State's office.

So far, those ballots tilt heavily towards the Democrats. About 119,000 of the 185,000 requested are from registered Democrats, while a little more than 24,000 are from registered Republicans. The remaining ballots come from voters registered as "no party" or "other." Republicans do boast an advantage in terms of total registered voters in the state, however, with about 620,000 to 602,000, according to figures from the secretary of state's office.

While both parties in the state have made a push to encourage voters to vote by mail, Democrats and Republicans take a different strategy in the types of voter they're targeting. Democrats are mostly talking to their base voters when it comes to mobilizing people to vote by mail or come out to the polls and cast their vote early. Those supporters who are definitely going to vote, it's just a question of when, a Democratic source in Iowa told ABC News.

Republicans are focusing more on voters that they deem less likely to vote on election day, a GOP source said.

Fred Willard, Michael McKean, and Ed Begley Jr. Join Christopher ...

fred-willard-michael-mckean-ed-begley-jr-family-tree-slice

A few Christopher Guest regulars have joined the filmmaker?s upcoming HBO comedy series Family Tree.? The documentary-style show stars Chris O?Dowd as a man who, after inheriting a mysterious box from a great aunt he never met and losing his job and his girlfriend, begins exploring his family heritage.? THR reports that Fred Willard, Michael McKean, and Ed Begley Jr. have all signed on to appear on the series in recurring roles, with Don Lake set to guest star.? Willard, McKean, and Begley have all appeared in Guest?s stellar ?mockumentary? films This Is Spinal Tap, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, and For Your Consideration, so this bodes extremely well for Family Tree.

The show was picked up straight-to-series by HBO with an eight-episode first season order.? Willard will play O?Dowd?s neighbor, McKean will play his father, and Begley is set as his Uncle Andy.? Hopefully this means Catherine O?Hara, Parker Posey, and Jane Lynch will pop up on Family Tree at some point as well.

Five Keys to Self-Managing our Emotional Intelligence

Property management at the very least can be described as chaotic at times. There are so many variables each and every day that can challenge our ability to accomplish our list of duties. How many times does the phone interrupt us? How many maintenance ?emergencies? arise? Yes the list can be quite extensive. When we feel like we are losing some control our emotions can get the better of us. Here are five keys to improving our own self-management.

Be Consistent

Part of self-management is the ability to be stable. The values you hold dear should always be apparent. Always changing to the whim 86520564 200x300 Five Keys to Self Managing our Emotional Intelligenceof your peers or customers can not only cause others to question your beliefs. With consistency comes stability. Stability breeds trust. Consistency certainly aids productivity for you and your team. ?Maintaining consistency puts you on the right path towards emotional intelligence.

Stick to the Plan

If you are responsible for particular tasks, do them. Don?t just do them, but make sure they are done to the best of your ability and in a timely manner. It is easy to feel out of control when you disregard the plan you are to follow. Do you have your plan in writing? Having it in writing has a couple of benefits. It gives you a great visual aid of the project outline and it also allows you to check items off as they have been completed.

Be Accountable

There are times when things don?t work out as you plan, but you have to be able to admit that and then use your flexibility to get things back on track. The ideal result is that you easily bounce back and complete the task, but even during those times when this is not the case, you must adjust. We need to realize that we simply are not perfect. Mistakes do happen. Keeping this in mind allows us to have a true awareness of ourselves and that will help us react accordingly when things go wrong.

Educate Yourself

We live in an ever-changing world and you want to be able to keep up with it. Don?t let change pass you by; embrace it. Be an avid reader. Talk and listen to mentors and peers. They may know something that could help you along your journey. Whether it?s on a tablet or a good old paperback, reading is so critical in this fast paced world. Do you have a set amount of time scheduled for reading and research each week? ?How about reading something on emotional intelligence, marketing, leadership, or self improvement.

Stay Physically Fit

Many people don?t think of staying fit when they talk about self-management, but it is very important. Exercising your body is just as crucial to self-management as exercising your mind. A body that is not well rested, nutritionally fed or physically exercised can lead to emotional and physical illnesses. A well exercised body also facilitates a clearer mind which in turn leads to better time management and decisions.

Emotional intelligence is a very deep subject. The principles are sound but will always apply uniquely to each and every one of us. Part of emotional intelligence is self-management. When we recognize this need from a professional and personal level we can achieve a greater degree of success in our everyday lives. If you have any thoughts or contributions please feel free to share them in the comment section below.

Important lessons learned from crime-time TV

David Giesbrecht / NBC

Det. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) questions Capt. Don Cragen (Dann Florek) as her boss finds himself on the wrong side of the law in the season premiere of "SVU."

By Ree Hines, TODAY contributor

We all hope we'll never be involved in the sort of crimes the fine folks from the various incarnations of "Law & Order" have found themselves in time and time again over the years. But in the off chance we do end up sitting at a police precinct desperately trying to remember our alibies (or desperately trying to pry the truth from the perp du jour -- depending on which side of the thin blue line we find ourselves on), there's a lot we can learn from the TV legal system.

And with "Special Victims Unit" kicking off its 14th season on Sept. 26, what better time than now to review the lessons we've learned from the popular procedural and others like it?

Lessons for regular folks:

  • Never trust your landlord.
Your landlord isn't just the person collecting your rent each month and ignoring your complaints about the air conditioning. He's also the guy who's going to completely sell you out once the cops stop by. In the land of the "Law & Order" franchises, landlords are only too happy to reveal every relevant and irrelevant tale about your life. And in more than a couple episodes, they were the ones who took their tenants' lives.
  • Drink nothing! Eat nothing!
Once you're at the precinct, if detectives offers you a stick of gum, then dollars to doughnuts, they're going to dig through the trash can later (or scrape it from the underside of the table you stick it to) and send that gooey sample to the lab for some DNA-retrieving magic. Just tough out the hunger pangs for a few more hours. But if you must drink, take that aluminum can or paper cup with you! (Watch out if they offer you a beverage in a mug. It might be tough to walk out of the precinct, mug in hand, without getting slapped with a theft charge on top of whatever it is you're already facing.)
  • Don't touch the detective.
Maybe you're feeling particularly punchy. Maybe you think, "I could take that detective in a fair fight." No, just no. No matter how frustrated (or even overly friendly) you may be, it's never OK to lay a hand on the officer standing before you. It only leads to regret and arrest.
  • Keep your mouth shut.
Yes, the police can be intimidating and mean (Hellooooo, dearly missed Det. Stabler!), but remember you have the right to remain silent no matter how much they badger you. ?(Side note: Remember whether the arresting officer read you your Miranda rights. It may come in handy if they don't.) Keep those lips sealed beyond asking for legal representation. Anything you say can and will be used against you later in the episode ...? er,?in the court of law.
  • Listen to your lawyer.
If you were clever enough to ask for a lawyer in the first place, then listen to said lawyer -- even if?the lawyer's advice seems like little more than the aforementioned "keep your mouth shut." Nothing doomed more suspects on any prime-time police procedural that the words they uttered after their lawyers said, "Don't answer that."

Lessons for law enforcement:

  • Respect the crime scene!
Didn't they teach this in police academy or day one on the force? Crime scenes are special places chock-full of prints, hair, fibers and tiny, random deposits of DNA, so it's best to tread lightly and not add your own DNA to the mix. We've lost count of the number of times detectives have put their ungloved hands all over evidence.?
  • They're called partners for a reason.
Bad things happen to good partners when they hit the pavement solo, so don't let them do it. Oh, sure, it's fine if they want to do a little research or visit the lab. But if they're actually meeting up with perps or faithfully following killers' footsteps, follow the advice ever kindergartener already knows -- stick close to your buddy.
  • If you want a suspect to talk, get up close and personal.
Yes, thanks to the intimate interrogations stylings of "Law & Order: SVU's" Det. Stabler and "L & O: Criminal Intent's" Det. Goren, it's clear that when someone doesn't want to spill the murderous beans, all you have to do is get your face near the suspect's face. Criminals have no defense for that classic maneuver.
  • But don't get too personal.
This is one of those lessons best learned by watching what not to do. Whenever a good cop gets a little too involved with a sympathetic victim, things go bad fast. When a case hits too?close to home, procedure flies out the window, and rookie mistakes are the order of the day.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" returns with back-to-back episodes on Wednesday at 9 p.m. on NBC.

What's the best lesson you've ever learned from procedural crime dramas? Tell us on our Facebook page.

Barnes & Noble takes aims at Amazon, Apple with HD Nook tablets

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Barnes & Noble Inc took a shot at archrival Amazon.com on Wednesday, unveiling its own lighter and thinner hi-definition tablets that can accommodate multiple users in a bid to win a bigger share of the exploding tablet market.

The largest U.S. bookstore chain introduced the new devices with price tags ranging from $199 for a 7-inch Nook HD tablet with 8 gigabytes of memory, to $299 for a 9-inch Nook HD+ tablet, similar in size to Apple Inc's market-leading iPad, with 32 GB of memory. IPad prices are roughly twice as high for similar devices.

The new Nooks are the latest entrants in the fight for sales of tablets and e-readers - and the digital content like books, movies and magazines that goes with them. Barnes & Noble has staked its future on its digital business as the company faces an overall industrywide drop in the sales of physical books.

"A key growth area is to get their existing customer base onto the digital platform," Forrester Research analyst Sarah Rotman Epps told Reuters, saying the new devices were competitive with similar products by Amazon in terms of features and pricing.

Barnes & Noble faces formidable competition from Amazon, which can use its Prime shipping service and amazon.com site to draw users, and the iPad, which has sold in the tens of millions of units.

To keep pace, Barnes & Noble added innovative features that would allow each a family to share a Nook tablet, with each user able to create a home page and customize preferences, the first table to do so. There are also parental controls that can prevent kids from reading "Fifty Shades of Grey" or go shopping on the digital store.

The company is also launching a new video-streaming and download service for Nook, narrowing the gap with Amazon and Apple, which offer more content on their devices.

At a media event in Manhattan on Tuesday, officials said the company had emphasized features such as image resolution and page-turning technology given the needs of its basic customers, book and magazine readers.

"We are playing in the tablet space, but reading is at our core," Barnes & Noble Chief Executive William Lynch told Reuters in an interview on Tuesday.

The 7-inch tablet weighs 11.1 ounces. Its larger sibling is 18.2 ounces, making it lighter than the iPad and making them both more appropriate for reading, he added. The iPad weighs about 23 ounces.

The top U.S. bookstore chain launched its first Nook device, a basic e-reader, in 2009 and has held its own with deep-pocketed rivals Amazon, Apple and Google Inc. That success has allowed it to garner as much as 30 percent of the U.S. electronic-books market.

Barnes & Noble's new devices, available for pre-order on Wednesday, will ship in October and be in U.S. stores in November. They will be on sale in Britain beginning in late November at chains including Sainsbury's and Waitrose.

BRUISING PRICE WARS

The tablet market is among the fastest-growing sectors of the technology industry. Research firm Gartner forecasts that sales will almost double this year, to 118.9 million units.

Barnes & Noble's latest Nooks will appear in its nearly 700 stores as well as chains Best Buy Co Inc, Target Corp and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. Target and Wal-Mart have decided to no longer carry Amazon's Kindles, giving the Nook an edge at thousands of retail locations.

Amazon.com Inc earlier this month unveiled its own HD tablets. It launched its first last year and says it has a 22 percent share of the U.S. market.

With the new Nooks, Barnes & Noble is also taking aim at Apple, whose iPad is far more expensive, because there is room in the market for a strong tablet at a lower price, Lynch said.

Questions about the Nook's long-term viability arose last month after Barnes & Noble reported that Nook revenue including ebooks last quarter was up only 0.3 percent, hurt by price decreases early in the summer. That has added urgency to developing new products.

Price wars with Amazon have been bruising, but Lynch was undismayed: "We're growing the digital content portion of the business, and that's where we envision making our economics," Lynch said.

Last quarter, Barnes & Noble lost business when it didn't have enough Nook devices that allow for reading in the dark. Lynch said the company is now producing HD tablets in numbers sufficient to meet what it expects will be strong demand during the holiday period.

"We believe we'll gain significant share in the tablet category, and we've planned for that from a production standpoint. I believe these are going to be hot holiday gifts."

Marketing and the Economic Turnaround

The recovery we?ve been hearing about seems to be lagging in the marketing field. Take these indicators from three very different sources:

1. Direct marketing hiring is sluggish, according to Jerry Bernhart?s latest employment survey. Of the companies polled, 46% plan to add staff in this quarter, compared with 50% in last spring?s report. Still, that?s better than the 40% reported last year at this time. 21% have a hiring freeze, up from 13% in the spring. And there?s been a slight uptick?from 4% to 5%?in the number of firms planning layoffs. No improvement there.

?In terms of job creation we?re only a few points ahead of a year ago,? said Jerry Bernhart, principal of Bernhart Associates Executive Search, LLC, in a statement. ?Much like the overall U.S. economy, our employment indicators have remained within a narrow range for the past year and a half.?

He added, however, that there is ?plenty of activity out there? for lower to mid-level digital and direct marketing job seekers.

2. Small business owners are reluctant to expand?or hire, according to a survey by the National Federation of Independent Businesses and the National Association of Manufacturers, as reported in The Hill. Two thirds feel that way, and over half say they wouldn?t start a business today.?It follows that they?re?gun-shy when it comes to marketing. Many blamed the economy and government regulation.

3. CMOs are feeling the pinch. In the recent CMO survey, only 29% of?those polled?said they?re optimistic, a 34.4% decline from February. And 35.8% said they?re less optimistic. Marketing budgets have suffered accordingly.

?This is not just a macroeconomic swing based on interest rates or unexpected international events,? said Christine Moorman, director of The CMO Survey, in a summary. ?Instead, CMOs expect key customer metrics to decrease in the next 12 months, including purchase volume, of related products and services, retention, and new customers entering the market.?

What should we all do? First, don?t despair. Many of these problems are attitudinal.

Second, take advantage of the empty mailboxes and inboxes. This is the time to ramp up.

Finally, keep an eye on your ROI. It?s easier to make the case for expansion when you can document results.
